Threegold Resources Inc.: Lemieux Dome Drilling Program to Commence and Copper-Zinc Results Confirm Extensions to Mineralized Zones (2007-10-09)

VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 9, 2007) - Threegold Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:THG) is pleased to provide its investors with the results from the 2007 trench sampling program (press release September 20, 2007) which confirm the extensions to the copper and zinc mineralized occurrences discovered in 2006 on the Lemieux Dome Project in the Gaspe region of Quebec. The company is also pleased to announce that it is finalizing drilling plans for a diamond drilling program to commence shortly.

The Dome Lemieux project is located approximately some fifty kilometres southeast of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts in Gaspesie, Quebec. This property is centered on a 10 kilometre domal structure. Preliminary exploration work outlined lead-zinc mineralization and copper-zinc-silver mineralization in numerous veins and fault structures intersecting the sedimentary rock units. The Lemieux Dome Project consists of four (4) different properties, two of them acquired by option, one under an option agreement to acquire a fifty percent (50%) interest, and the last block acquired by map staking.

Surface rock samples were collected from different locations including the Big Pioneer West Zone, the Leclerc Vein, the Pardiac, as well as newly discovered mineralized structures on the Vital Property (press release September 20, 2007).

West of the Big Pioneer Zone, a structure exposed in 2006 was re-sampled through a series of nine (9) grab samples in (1) trench along a one hundred and 150 metre exposure cutting across the structure. The Copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn) results reveal a complex series of mineralized zones where copper grades from 134ppm to 1.50% Cu with the same zone assaying from 0.23% to 11.4 % Zn (average 4.66%).

Some 2.4 km to the East, an important hematite-pyrite-quartz altered zone was exposed on the northern and southern flanks of a hill for a total distance of 380 metres. This north-south structure is offset by a deeply entrenched valley to the north and south. Individual samples collected from surface exposure assayed from 235 ppm to 6.35% Copper with traces of zinc and silver. A 30 metre wide fault structure with quartz-pyrite-hematite-chalcopyrite occurs approx 230 metres to the North East of this north-south structure. Surface grab samples assayed between 357ppm and 2.36% Cu and Silver (Ag) between 0.3 and 1.72 g/t. This new zone maybe the extension of the Leclerc Vein located some 250 metres to the north.

A diamond drilling program is being finalized and the drill rig should mobilize to the property within the next few days. The 7,000 metre - 31 hole diamond drilling program is designed to intersect mineralization present on surface at 11 distinct locations.

The first target to be tested is the Big Pioneer fault structure that has been traced on surface for one (1) kilometer. The structure is outlined by a series of parallel mineralized zones with quartz veining that assayed as high as 4.16% Cu, 8.16% Zn and 41 g/t Ag (press release March 29, 2007) in individual trench grab samples. A 12 hole program from 6 set-ups is planned to intersect the structure at the -100 and -150 metre levels over the entire one kilometre structure.

The program will also test the high-grade copper obtained in a series of surface grab samples in trench 6 now termed the Gasse Zone (press release March 29, 2007, trench 6) with 2 parallel holes. A series of two diamond drill holes are also planned for the Pardiac, the Brandy South, the Eagle-Gaspesie mineralized occurrences in the vicinity of the former Federal Mine. Additional diamond drill holes are also planned at Elizabeth and in newly discovered zones on the Vital Property (this press release) and Gasse - Lemieux (results pending).

Fieldwork is conducted under the surveillance of Bruce Robbins, P. Geo. M.Sc. A. qualified person under the 43-101 norm. Samples were assayed by ALS-Chemex using ME-MS61 and results above 10 000 ppm for Cu, Pb and Zn and 100 ppm for silver were reassayed using OG62.
